YOGADOO is excited to announce the launch of a brand new way to practice Yoga. Hygge Yoga™ pronounced (Hou-gah) is the Scandinavian concept of getting ‘cosy’ and is currently taking the UK by storm. Think the simple pleasures in life, being surrounded by friends, real wood fires, fairy lights, woollen socks, lovely blankets and gorgeous candles. YOGADOO has developed 'Hygge Yoga' - a cosier way to enjoy yoga - inspired by all things Hygge.
We're running the first ever half day Hygge Yoga retreats at the beautiful Combe Grove Hotel, just outside of Bath between December and March, set against a beautiful, natural backdrop of woodland cascading down into the Limpley Stoke Valley.
Hygge was made famous by the Norwegians, Finns, Swedes and Danes - who are among the happiest nations on the planet in all the happiness surveys – so they must be doing something right.
Our candlelit 'Hygge Yoga' Vinyasa Flow yoga sessions take place in a beautiful glass-fronted studio at the hotel, looking out on to trees and greenery. After our 90 minute practice, you’ll be gifted a pair of beautiful hand-knitted, socks to wear for your relaxation and Savasana. Then we’ll head to a beautiful, cosy room with a crackling log fire where you’ll be wrapped in a beautiful blanket for our candlelit meditation. Following our meditation we will enjoy a hearty bowl of delicious of soup and fresh bread cooked by the Hotel’s award-winning chef, hot drinks – including hot chocolate and a piece of homemade cake.
Before or after your Hygge Yoga session, you are welcome to enjoy the sauna, steam room and use the Scandinavian-inspired, indoor pool which overlooks the hotel’s beautiful grounds and surrounding countryside. The Hygge Yoga™ mini retreat, will leave you feel inspired by nature, energised, calm and relaxed and ready to face the Festivities with a more ‘Hygge’ outlook.
The Yoga and Meditation sessions will be led by Lucy Aston, fully qualified Vinyasa Flow Yoga and Meditation teacher and founder of YOGADOO. Lucy was trained at the leading Kranti Yoga training school, in Goa, India and teaches almost 200 children and adults each week in classes across Bath and Bristol. Lucy’s approach to teaching is accessible, mindful and real, helping you to get the most from your yoga practice to leave you feeling energised, calm and relaxed. Lucy has spent time in Finland and the North Pole and has embraced the Scandinavian concept of Hygge in her own life for many years, she is looking forward to welcoming Hygge Yogis to Combe Grove Hotel this winter.
You are welcome to use the hotel’s beauty facilities, restaurant, steam room, showers, sauna and indoor swimming pool before or after your Hygge Yoga™ sessions. Combe Grove Hotel also has 70 acres of stunning, landscaped grounds, should you wish to enjoy an invigorating walk or jog in the beautiful countryside and fresh air, before our yoga practice.
