YOGADOO has announced a partnership with leading children and young people’s charity, Bath Rugby Foundation.
Specialist young people’s yoga and meditation teachers from YOGADOO will pair with Education Officers from the charity to work together in schools throughout Bath and BANES to run the Stand Tall programme which helps pupils who can’t access normal classroom learning due to social and emotional challenges.
Bath Rugby Foundation is the charitable arm of Bath Rugby Club which was set up to empower young people to succeed, using a variety of different sports and activities to engage school pupils across the area.
YOGADOO is an award-winning company based in Bath, providing specialist children’s yoga and mindfulness meditation teachers to more than 50 schools across Bath, Bristol, Somerset and Wiltshire.
YOGADOO Founder Lucy Aston said: “The aims and goals of the Bath Rugby Foundation and YOGADOO are very closely aligned, to empower young people and give them valuable life skills, to increase their resilience and to find ways to look after their physical and mental health. There is a natural fit with the work YOGADOO is already doing in schools and the projects run by the Bath Rugby Foundation.”
Lucy added: “Our initial pilot programme of working together involves helping year 6 children to become more resilient in a digital world. Teaching them yoga and meditation skills and techniques to switch off at the end of the day, to learn to work with their emotions and feel calmer when facing stressful or difficult situations. It’s increasingly tough for young people to find some stillness and calm in their everyday lives, and yoga and meditation has been scientifically proven to help with this.”
Bath Rugby Foundation’s Education programme leader, Jonathan Wood added: “YOGADOO helps the children deal with complex life issues in an ever more challenging world for young people.”
After the initial six-week pilot programme at two schools in Bath and BANES, YOGADOO and Bath Rugby Foundation plan to roll out the scheme across the county.
